Video-conferencing Apps

We’ve reviewed some of the main players to use with MM.

Overview

If you have teams in different offices or remote workers who you would like to include in your Magic Minutes meetings, you may consider using video-conferencing software to share the meeting with them.

If you’re not projecting a meeting in the room, you might also want to use video-conferencing to share you screen with the attendees in the room so that they can view the minutes as you type them.

We’ve reviewed some of the most popular apps to help you choose one that’s right for you.

Gotomeeting

This is easy to use and quick to set up, with fast and easy access for attendees.  It has a comprehensive set of features for sharing meetings and is a straightforward solution to screen-sharing.  This tends to be our go-to for board meetings, and also meetings where attendees need to join in at short notice.

Clickmeeting

Clickmeeting has some great features but as it’s more geared towards running webinars, if you are only looking for meeting sharing it might not be the best option for sharing your Magic Minutes meetings.  Do check this out for webinars and it will also work really well for creative meetings; the whiteboard is a really neat feature.

Zoom

Great for screen-sharing between both host and participants so everyone can view the minutes being taken and also anything else of interest from your participant screens.  Being able to see participants as well as the host is also a great feature (though could be an easier user experience).  Zoom is ideal for meetings where you want to visually connect with your remote team.

Cisco Webex

SIgning in is slick for both host and participant.  Features aren’t superfluous meaning that it’s uncomplicated and very easy to use.  Screen sharing is both ways and the transitions are very easy.  There is virtually no lag between screens.  This is a great solution if you’re looking for straightforward and reliable screen-share and meeting hosting.

Uberconference

Uberconference is a modern equivalent of the traditional call conferencing so don’t expect any frills.  The features aren’t as plentiful as other apps (there is call recording but not video recording) but this is a great option if you are looking for a low-cost solution for short meetings.  The free package gives access for up to ten participants but your meetings need to end in 45 minutes.
